Accommodation

Situated in the pretty village of Jenig just 2km from the resort centre, Pension Sonnleitn is an ideal base for small groups looking to meet fellow boarders and skiers and larger groups looking for spacious accommodation. All the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with en-suite facilities and satellite tv (some English channels).

All front facing rooms have balconies with stunning views of the Carnic Alps that border with Italy. We have a selection of double rooms, single rooms, two three-bed family rooms or a family suite consisting of two interconnecting double rooms with ensuite toilet and shower.

Food

In the winter, we offer a three course evening meal six nights of the week, or, you can opt for just Bed and Breakfast. Board is offered only on a bed and breakfast basis in the summer. After a hard day on the slopes and perhaps a few hours in one of the lively après ski bars, you can return to home made cakes with coffee or tea to help keep you going before a hearty three course evening meal with wine included.
*Please note that an evening meal is offered 6 days a week. Cook’s night off is Wednesday. Breakfast is traditionally Austrian with a selection of local cold meats, cheese, freshly baked bread, yoghurt and preserves, a selection of teas and freshly brewed coffee.

Winter Breaks

Pension Sonnleitn is a catered chalet close to Nassfeld Ski Arena near the borders of Italy and Slovenia in Austria’s ‘sunny south.’The traditional style chalet is owned and run by Craig and Katharine who guarantee you a warm welcome and friendly and informal atmosphere.

Picking you up just 200m from the front door the free shuttle bus will deliver you within minutes to the Millennium Express and in no time you will be looking forward to a fantastic day on the resort’s 110 km of snow sure pistes.

Snowboarders are also well catered for with a Snowboard Park containing quarter pipes, half pipes, high jumps, rail slides and a snowboard cross park guaranteeing plenty of fun and action.

Other activities include:

• Weekly night skiing on one of Europe’s longest floodlit pistes
• Experiment on the mountain with exciting equipment like the Tube, Snowbike, Skifox, Airboard, Sled, Scooter, Carver and Blades
• Over 50km of winter walking trails
• Tobogganing
• Skating on Europe’s largest natural ice rink at Weissensee
• Cross country skiing

Summer Breaks

Pension Sonnleitn offers you an ideal centre from which to explore the many attractions this beautiful and sunny part of Austria has to offer.

The Millennium Express gondola is less than 2km from Pension Sonnleitn in the village of Tropolach and is open throughout the summer for those who wish to experience the fabulous views of the Carnic Alps, mountain top cafes and restaurants.

There are many outdoor activities including miles and miles of scenic cycling tracks through the Gailtal Valley, hiking paths, a children’s adventure park, horse back riding and mountaineering or you could visit the nearby crystal clear lakes of Weissensee and Presseggersee with their amazing public bathing areas. Both are warm enough to bath in and clean enough to drink.

You could even choose to visit nearby Slovenia and Italy. We are only a two and a half hour drive from Venice!

We are also close to Hermagor, a lovely Austrian town, famed for its locally produced bacon (Speck), with plenty of shops bars and restaurants.
