Apartment: Chalet Armorial

http://www.swiss-apartment.com/

Chalet Armorial occupies a privileged position in the Domaine de la Residence one of the best and most sought after areas of the beautiful Alpine resort of Villars, Switzerland.

Fully south facing and only a few steps away from one of the main blue runs into the village, it affords a superb skiing experience, being virtually ski-in ski-out, combined with comfort, tranquillity and stunning views of the Dents du Midi range.

Our apartment is on the first floor and comfortably accommodates up to four guests in the two main rooms. A large balcony, provides a wonderful opportunity to soak up the views over a glass of wine or a hot chocolate.

Villars is a wonderful, traditional Swiss, year round resort catering for skiers of all abilities and providing plenty of activities for non-skiers.

General Description

Our apartment is one of only six in Chalet Armorial, imparting a genuine 'Swiss Chalet' feel to the property .
Although the apartment is on the first floor it is only one short flight of steps from the main entrance to our door.

We also have an underground garage which is heated and has access to the apartment without having to go outside which is a great advantage when carrying in luggage or shopping.

Secure, heated ski and boot storage is available in the lower ground area along with a shared laundry room equipped with the latest laundry equipment.

The Bedroom

The cosy bedroom has wood panelled walls, pine furniture, Alpine prints on the walls and a King Size double bed (which may be made up as two singles if required) ideal for a rejuvenating sleep after an active day on the mountain.
Plenty of clothes storage is afforded by the fitted wardrobes and drawers while the two windows look out onto the immaculately maintained parkland of the Domaine de la Residence.
A wonderfully peaceful retreat from the stresses of everyday life. Down filled quilts and high quality pillows are provided along with fluffy towels for the bathroom.

Bathroom

The bathroom is fully tiled and includes a full sized bath for those 'after ski' soaks along with a shower, toilet and washbasin.

 Lounge/Dining

The bright and sunny lounge/diner is well equipped and very cozy on a winters evening. There is an open log fire (logs can be ordered from the local agents) comfortable sofas, one of which converts into a double bed (all bedding and quilts provided).

Computer with Broadband Internet

Entertainment is provided by large flat screen TV with CableTV, DVD player, Playstation 2. For music we provide a HiFi system and iPod docking station
A four place dining table and chairs completes this room.

Access to the balcony is provided via French windows which afford an amazing view over the mountains.

 Kitchen

The kitchen area is well equipped with fridge/Freezer, dishwasher, coffee percolator, toaster, microwave and full size oven and hob. All necessary utensils, plates and cutlery are provided.

The kitchen has a nice view from its two windows and also has access to the East balcony via a glazed door.

 Balcony

The lounge French windows lead out to a wonderful 'L' shaped, fully South facing, balcony of fourteen square metres with jaw-dropping views of the mountains. A large table and four comfortable chairs invite relaxation in this stunning location. To enable use of the balcony all year round we have installed a gas fired patio heater creating a warm and cosy environment.
As the chalet is close to the ski piste it is possible to sit and watch the skiers returning to the village down the adjacent blue run.

Heating

The Chalet/garage and ski store is centrally heated and also includes an open log fire in the lounge for cozy nights indoors. There is no extra charge for central heating but you will need to buy your own firewood if you use the log fire.

Arriving by Air

Most people will arrive at Geneva aiport which is 76 miles away and will take around 90 minutes by car.

Airlines flying into Geneva from the UK include...

EasyJet Who have daily flights from Liverpool and Nottingham (East Midlands) Airports

British Airways Fly from many UK airports to Geneva

Cheapflights.com Can also offer some good deals

We recommend Hertz Car Rental for a reliable service and they offer a 'Ski Pack' for winter rentals

By Car From the airport

The journey is fairly straightforward along the motorway past Lausanne amd Montreux then heading up into the mountains at Aigle through small picturesque mountain villages. We provide detailed driving directions and location details with your booking pack

By Rail from the airport

A reliable and (typically Swiss) punctual rail service is available from the airport to Villars, the fare is approx CHF 85 and you will need to change at Bex for the mountain train. (Some services also require a change at Lausanne). The Journey takes about 2 hours 20 minutes. You will then need to take a taxi to the apartment. Taxi Tel 024 495 8484

Train tickets may be ordered in advance on-line from SBB

Driving To Switzerland

The European motorway network makes driving (via the Channel tunnel or ferry ) a real alternative now, some approximate timings are as follows, its about an 8 hour drive from Calais or about 4 hours from Paris.

If you bring your own car you will need a vignette to use the motorways (this replaces the toll system) and this can be obtained form the Swiss tourist office in London
