The telecabine is the easiest and quickest way into the heart of the Portes du Soleil. It is situated in the heart of the village and during the winter season we can take you and your equipment down to the village every morning and pick you up every evening at a time that suits you.
During the summer months we strongly recommend hiring a car so that you can explore the local area fully. There are many attractions within a short drive.

Champéry and the Portes du Soleil
Champéry is a traditional Swiss village, in the Valais region of the Swiss Alps. It sits in the Val d’Illiez below the Dents du Midi within the vast Portes du Soleil skiing area.
The village is well equipped for tourists on both winter and summer holidays, but maintains a community feel. It has many shops, bars and restaurants, a sports centre, equipment hire shops for winter and summer sports, and its own train station, school and post office.

During the winter months the area is dominated by Alpine sports. The Portes du Soleil is the largest internationally connected ski area in the world, covering 14 stations, including Avoriaz, Morzine, Châtel, Morgins and Les Gets with 288 marked pistes, 208 lifts, 8 snow parks, and 650 km of pistes in all. Your Portes du Soleil pass covers the entire area. Every Wednesday and Saturday night you can enjoy “Night Skiing” in Les Crosets. There are also many Cross-Country ski trails to explore.
However, its not all skiing and snowboarding. Perhaps you would like to try Parapente (paragliding), taking off and landing from snow, or Tobogganing on the luge track at Champoussin. The sports centre also has an ice skating rink and, for the more adventurous, a curling rink!
After your day on the slopes finishes you may feel like a bit of pampering. Just down the road, in the village of Val D’Illiez is a Thermal Spa, with a pool, lazy river, hot spring and massages and beauty treatments to soothe your aches and pains.

During the summer, a much wider range of activities is within your reach. Many of these are listed below. Some are available in the village of Champéry and many more are within easy reach on the train. However, we strongly recommend that summer visitors hire a car in order to gain the most enjoyment from their stay. We have included links to many of the activities below. Those that do not have links can be found on the Champéry tourism site or the Valais tourism site.
