Chez Denis

This lovely stone cottage with private pool is at the end of a private tree-lined driveway, and is surrounded by beautiful Dordogne countryside with rolling hills and woods all around.  Chez Denis sits in its own private grounds of 5 acres located on the edge of a small village.

The cottage has been carefully restored to provide every modern comfort, while retaining all the charm of original stonework, wood beamed ceilings and stone floors.

Take a relaxing holiday in your own private villa with its superb pool in this delightful part of France.  Enjoy the top class food at local restaurants, canoe down the River Dronne, or visit the many interesting attractions and picturesque villages.
Chez Denis is situated in a beautiful setting on the edge of a small village

The cottage is located just 15 mins drive from Brantome, with its famous abbey and lovely riverside walks, and is also not far from Bourdeilles with its 11th Century Chateau and picturesque bridge over the river,

The cottage is the larger of the two properties at Chez Denis and sleeps 6 to 8.  The gite opposite is also available and sleeps 2 to 4.

There is a traditional "pigeonnier" at one corner and we're told the cottage is 400 years old. 

At the rear of the cottage is a patio area with veranda for barbecuing, A low stone wall divides the patio/veranda from an orchard of mixed fruit and other trees providing plenty of shade for relaxing.

There is a 10m x 5m swimming pool with "roman end" situated just a few steps from the cottage.  It is fitted with a security alarm to provide protection for children when the pool is not in use.
The garden covers around 5 acres of open parkland, bounded by trees and fields.  It is not overlooked and is very private.  There is ample garden furniture for barbecues or relaxing by the pool.

The surrounding countryside is green and attractive, with rolling hills. and many delightful walks from the door. It is also wonderful cycling country and cycles are available on request.

Chez Denis is just outside a small village with an attractive "Roman church".

The living room

The cottage has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 to 8 people.

The sitting/dining room has a large fireplace, quarry tile floor, wooden beams and exposed stones.  There are  settees, chairs, dining table, sideboard and cupboard.

The kitchen leads off, and is equipped with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, and is generously equipped with utensils, and everything you need.

Just off the entrance hall is a cloakroom with toilet.

 

Chez Denis is a real home from home with everything you need to make your stay comfortable, including satellite TV with all free-to-air UK channels, telephone for both incoming and outgoing calls and a CD/mp3/USB player.

There are patio doors from the sitting/dining room to the patio/veranda, where you will find ample garden furniture and a large build-in barbecue set into a  wall.

The patio also has an ancient well which still has water at the bottom.  The well is covered with bars to prevent accidents!

The master bedroom is a real feature of the property

 

House - Ancient staircase 

A wide period wooden staircase leads from the hallway to the landing with the impressive master bedroom leading off.  With it's high ceilings, carved fireplace and massive ceiling beams it is an outstanding feature of the house.  There is an en suite shower room, double bed and two single beds.

There are two other bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other 2 single beds.  Leading off the landing is a bathroom with bath and separate shower.
