Striking dock workers bring Calais to a standstill... and Channel Tunnel won't return to normal until FebruaryFerry traffic in the Channel was brought to a standstill by striking port workers in Calais yesterday as it was announced that the Channel Tunnel would not be fully operational until at least February. French trade unionists targeted those forced to use alternatives to the tunnel after last month's fire. Port closures meant ferry firms had to cancel all journeys to Calais and Boulogne for 24 hours. |
